What part do works play in our salvation; are they necessary to be saved?
We are justified by doing God’s work, with a reliance on Him for all things (Acts 10:34-35, Ephesians 2:10, Titus 3:4-8, James 1:25, 2:14, 17-26, Revelation 20:13). This work is necessary proof of obedience, which demonstrates reliance on God and not self. God desires that we strive for perfection (Matthew 5:48, Romans 12:2), and pray for His forgiveness when we sin against Him (1 John 1:5-10).  This is NOT to say that we work in order to earn salvation on our own merits—that is impossible, and if we justify ourselves by our works, we are condemned, because using THAT standard, we’d have to be perfect, and no one is (Galatians 3:10, 5:4, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:27-28, 4:1-5, Titus 3:4-7).
